No One Is Coming to Save You — Here’s Why That’s a Good Thing

Let me start with a confession - I play the lottery.
Yeah, I know the odds are shit. But I still do it — not because I think I’ll win, but because there’s this tiny voice in my head that says:
“Maybe this is how it all turns around. Maybe this is the thing that saves me.”
That voice is lying to both of us.
And deep down, we know it.
The Fantasy Feels Nice — But It’s Holding You Back
Whether it’s winning the lottery, getting discovered, meeting the right person, finding the “perfect” job...
We all cling to this rescue fantasy.
Because the idea of someone or something saving us is comforting — it removes the pressure.
If the world fixes it for me, then I don’t have to.
But here’s the brutal truth:
No one is coming.
Not your boss.
Not your mum.
Not the government.
Not some guru with a 12-step course.
And definitely not the universe.
That Might Sound Harsh — But It’s the Best News You’ll Hear
Because the second you stop waiting, you start moving.
And yeah — “You’ve got to be in it to win it.
”But don’t mistake a ticket for a plan.
You’ve got to make it happen for yourself.
Even if that means doing it slowly. Clumsily. Without motivation. While exhausted. While anxious. While unsure.
Because no matter how crap your circumstances, you’re the only one who can climb out of them.
Don’t Get It Twisted
This doesn’t mean you have to go it alone.
You can — and should — ask for help.
But no one can do the reps for you.
No one can build your discipline
No one can untangle your thoughts
No one can stop you doomscrolling at 1am but you
What Happens When You Accept This?
You take ownership.
You stop negotiating with yourself.
You stop blaming the world for your stagnation.
You start moving — even if it’s small. Even if it’s messy.
And that’s where everything starts to shift.
Final Thought
Look — I still buy a lotto ticket once in a while.
But I don’t expect it to change my life anymore.
Because I’ve realised the only plan that works is the one where I show up, even when it sucks.
Even when I don’t feel like it.
Even when no one notices.

Especially then.
So yeah — no one is coming to save you.
But maybe that’s the best thing that could happen.
Because now?
It’s your move.
